How to use social media for your business

Small businesses think “going social” is the answer to their problems. Signing up for Facebook or Instagram is a good step. However, it takes time, effort, and a solid strategy for social media to become a useful tool. So before creating a Facebook page, let’s talk about what ways we use it:

Social media serves as social proof.

How often do you see a business and then look on Facebook to learn more? We use social media to legitimize a business. A customer becomes concerned if a company hasn’t posted on their Facebook in more than a month. If you put your business on social media, makes sure you create a strategy focused on consistency.

It’s a method of communication.

Think about it – your followers are raising their hand and saying that they like what you. So, talk to them! Social media is useful because it is immediate. You can share with your audience at any time of day. You can hop on at any time to share about your wonderful and exciting business.

It’s an engagement tool.

Ultimately, people want to interact with brands that make them feel special. Social media is not the place to brag about your business; it’s a place to insert your business into your followers’ lives. Engage with your followers by asking them questions and replying to their comments. It’s not about you – it’s about them.

It’s a way to get customers.

Your followers are a group that raised their hands and said they are interested in what you have to offer. You will create a supportive community by posting content to engage your follower.

Simply getting your business on social media and posting your store items won’t get you far. But by creating posts to captivate and engage your audience, you will convert a follower to a customer.
