With 2021 being the year of action for me, I wanted to give myself some overarching goals to work on. And one of them is working on my mindset.
There are a lot of ways you can do work to create a better mindset for yourself. But as a practicing Christian, I knew I wanted this work to by Christ-centered. One of my favorite saints even has something to say about:
“The first hour of your morning belongs to God. Tackle the day’s work that he charges you with, and he will give you the power to accomplish it.”
—Edith Stein (St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross)
So after I tackle the hardest task of getting out of bed and changing out of my pajamas, I grab myself a cup of coffee and my bible.
It is my goal to read the bible in a year. I can go on and on about how important it is to read scripture, but it’s not the why that we need to talk about. It’s the how.
I decided to follow along with the Bible in a Year Podcast from Fr. Mike Schmitz. Imagine just pulling up your Spotify and having The Word read to you? That is exactly what you will get.
Each day Fr. Mike reads certain scripture out loud, has a prayer, and then gives a brief reflection on it. No more than a half hour each day.
As I am writing these words, this podcast is the number one podcast on Apple Podcasts. How great is that!?
I have seen an outpouring of grace within the first seventeen days of 2021. I invite you to join the many people who are listening. I feel so strongly about how this can change our hearts that I wrote this post! You can play catch up and listen along on all the podcast platforms.
I even made it easy for you! Just press play below and you can start reading the Bible in a year as well.
